Anguran Mine

Anguran mine is located in south west of the Zanjan city in Zanjan province in mountainous area near to west Azerbijan province and Kordestan province. Average altitude is about 2610 m .Climate condition in winter is very cold and in the summer is moderate and because of the altitude (2610 m),winter in the area is very cold and long (5 months) with minimum temperature -35 oc .The average of rainfall is about 280 mm.

Exploration of the mine has been done from 1963 to 1973 and minable reservoir is estimated about 17.6 million tons with average grade 28.3% zinc and 4.4% lead. Based on last design w/o(stripping ratio) is 4.7. Major minerals in sulfur part are Sphalerite and Galena and in carbonated part, Smithsonite and Cerossite . This mine excavated from 1945 with underground method .After that in 1970 concentrate factory designing started and in 1973 building of the factory started and finally in 1979 factory was ready.

Capacity of the factory is 60,000 tons zinc-oxide concentrate with grade 53% and 18,000 tons lead-carbonate with grade 61%. Ore carries from mine to factory by trucks and conveyor .Mining method in the mine is open-pit from 1973 and overburden removing executes concurrent with mining.

 

Based on 10 years exploiting design, 170,000 tons ore with zinc grade about 26.12% and lead grade 3.82% will be mined annually.
Mobin company from 1996 to 1998 and from 2002 to present time is active there as overburden removal contractor. Totally 16.2 million tons of overburden has been carried by this company in angoran mine.
